Greater Than: A Study in Hebrews

Jul 2, 2025

The sacrificial system of the Old Testament was established by God with a purpose: to atone for the sins of the people. However, it was also temporary and preparatory. The animals sacrificed couldn't truly cleanse the soul; they pointed to something greater. As we reflect on this, we must realize that while the blood of bulls and goats provided a momentary cover for sins, they could never achieve permanent forgiveness. This brings us to the crux of our faith: Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice, whose blood was shed for us once and for all.

Understanding the limitations of the Old Testament sacrifices helps us appreciate the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice. In Him, we find not just atonement but complete redemption. He offers us a relationship with the Father that the old system could never provide. Let's reflect on how this truth impacts our daily lives and our relationship with God.
