What are the KEY Elements of Arizona’s “Stay-at-Home” Order?

“These cities [in China] banned public gatherings, closed entertainment venues and suspended public transport, among other actions. As a result, they reported 33% fewer confirmed cases during the first week of their outbreaks than cities that did not implement a Level 1 Response.”1 according to Christopher Dye, a visiting professor/fellow from the University of Oxford.

On Monday, March 30, 2020, Arizona’s Governor Doug Ducey issued a stay-at-home order to reduce the spread of this infectious viral respiratory disease. A stay-at-home order is a method of separating a person or group of individuals who have been or presumed to have been exposed to COVID-19 but may or may not be experiencing or showing symptoms of infection.2

Managing Anxiety and Stress

Update on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Life events are common occurrences that humans experience throughout their lifetimes. While we all may not share the same events there are many overlapping experiences that unfold which shapes our future reactions, behaviors and beliefs. Events like completing high school, moving to a new neighborhood, pursuing a job promotion or selecting a major in college are events most folks are familiar with either directly or indirectly. For most people, these events are not seen as threatening since the level of anxiety is situational and temporary. Common symptoms of everyday anxiety range from dread, apprehension, jumpiness, restlessness or anticipating the worse to racing heart rates, sweaty palms, headaches, stomach burps, fatigue or inability to sleep.

Learning to incorporate risk-reducing measures into our daily activities will decrease the spread and severity of COVID-19 in our home and community. Preparing, planning & practicing social distancing has become vitally necessary for our “future” health and well-being.
