What’s YOUR Ministry?
"11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up."
(Ephesians 4:11-12)
It sure is exciting that Saving Grace now has land for ministry! We also now have a small building that we can use for offices and meeting rooms. And sometime soon we plan to start construction on brand new worship facilities and classrooms! It’s amazing to think about all the possibilities. And it’s awesome to see God’s hand at work in all of this.
But those buildings and facilities will not guarantee that Saving Grace reaches the lost and serves the community. Any church buildings and facilities are only as useful as the ministries they house. And the ministries that make their home in those buildings are only as effective as the people who conduct them. This is just another way of saying what the apostle Paul states in Ephesians 4: the body of Christ is built up and flourishes when the people are serving as the Lord has equipped them.
So that’s my simple question for you to ponder… and I may just ask you it sometime, so be prepared to answer: “What’s YOUR ministry?” What is that area of ministry in which you truly feel called by the Lord to serve? What ministry do you consider YOURS? What are you passionate about? What do you take ownership in? What makes you feel like you are participating with the Lord in building up and strengthening the Body?
Please understand that this is not just about getting all the “jobs” in the church accomplished! Rather, it is truly about fulfilling your purpose and calling in life! No matter what your age, and no matter how skilled (or un-skilled) you may think you are, I assure you that the Lord intends for you to serve Him! In fact, once you become a Christian, there’s only one reason the Lord keeps you alive – to serve! It’s what you were made for! I believe that folks don’t really start living the life God has in store for them until they find an area to serve in. And I believe that Saving Grace won’t become the church that God intends it to be until everyone serves as the Lord has equipped them!
So, what’s YOUR ministry?
