Re-ENERGIZING Your Life!

Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' " (Matthew 4:4)

How did you hold up through all the festivities and activities of the “Holidays?” (I still think it’s OK to use that word – it does after all have as its root meaning ‘Holy-days’!) We always say that we are going to use the holidays to refresh and relax. But just like a good vacation – when you get back from all the fun you need a vacation from the vacation! My guess is that with the New Year facing you, you could use a little “re-energizing’ in your life. For the last three weeks of January our messages at church will focus on this topic.

Why do we get drained of our energy in the first place? There is any number of reasons, but let me suggest a few here: 1. You’ve lost the passion in your life. You don’t have a clear and meaningful purpose for all the activity that fills your days. 2. You’re under a lot of pressure. There are many people that expect you to perform, and you are struggling with living up to all their expectations. 3. You’ve got an imbalance in your priorities. The wrong things are getting your attention and the important items … and people … are pushed to the back burner. Quite frankly, our 21st century lifestyle is very good at draining our energy.

What will restore your energy? The medical profession will suggest another pill. The booksellers will suggest another self-help program. And even though diet and exercise are an important part of having a healthy lifestyle and energy level, let me suggest they are not the places to start. The place to start to re-energize your life in 2006 is with the One who gave you your life and your energy in the first place – the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit dwelling within you. Each week in the upcoming message series we will look at a different facet of the three problems listed above, and we’ll suggest ways for you to nourish your soul and re-energize your Spirit by feeding on the Word of God! Join us as we re-ENERGIZE our lives!
