Everyone Does A Little – So No One Does A Lot!

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1 Cor. 12:27)

Sunday June 5th we will hold our last worship services in the building we are currently using at Queen Creek Middle School. You have probably heard me “sending up the pleas” for help. Please do plan on coming (or staying) at noon on that Sunday and helping us make the move to our new worship location in the cafeteria. My mom had a saying; maybe you’ve heard it? It goes: “Many hands make light work!” How true that is. The more helpers we have, the easier it is for all of us.

Really, it’s a Biblical Concept. In Ephesians 4:16, speaking Jesus Christ as the Head of the Church, Paul says: “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” And in fact each of us has been gifted by the Holy Spirit for the edification and building up of that body. When we don’t contribute to the Body of Christ according to our gifts, then we are not fulfilling our God-given role – we suffer and the body suffers.

That is why our vision for ministry at Saving Grace is “The Body of Christ At Work.” It really is a great image for the Church of God. Just like in the Body of Christ we wouldn’t expect, nor want the eye to do all the work for the whole body – it’s only designed to do a part – we wouldn’t want just a few members, or the staff, or the congregation president (even as willing as John may be ) to do all the work. It’s not as effective, and it’s just not as FUN! We can accomplish so much more for the Lord when we work together in ministry. If everyone does a little, then no one has to do a lot! It’s the way the Lord intended it.
