What’s God Putting Together?

Nobody assembles bicycles for their kids anymore, do they? I remember the day when you would buy a bike and have to assemble it yourself! Nowadays, people aren’t patient enough and just don’t have time to spend assembling things themselves – they’d rather have someone else do it. I don’t consider this a good characteristic of our modern society, and in many ways, I think it may even be detrimental to our strength and health as a nation. However, in the church it may be just the right attitude. How’s that you say?

We shouldn’t be assembling things that only God can put together! Just like a child looking at all of the pieces of a bike on the floor would be inclined to ask, “How’s this all go together?” We might look at our own lives, the lives of other people or at our church and ask, “What’s God doing here?” “How is this all going to come together?”

At this time in our ministry at Saving Grace, it is clear that God has pulled a lot of “pieces” out of the box (New office, youth, music and teaching staff. New worship schedule and location) and has them all laid out and ready to come together. It’s very confusing, but also very exciting! We as good children would do best to stay close to God, offer our help where needed, but stay out of His way, because we know that He’s the only one who can read and understand the master blueprint! We also need to recognize that He’s the one doing all the difficult work. As hard as it may be for us to wait while God works, we actually have the “easy job!” But our patience will pay off, and soon God will have assembled it all for us and we can just enjoy the ride!

God says in Isaiah 46:4 “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
