Membership
Thinking About Membership?
Our goal at Saving Grace is for you to deepen your faith relationship with Jesus and to be given the opportunity to express your worship and praise of Him together with other believers. While membership at our church is not a pre-requisite for that, it certainly helps you to enjoy the bonds of love and encouragement with other children of God. The Bible often speaks of the value and necessity of this.
To become a member at Saving Grace is easy! There are three different ways, depending on your background:
1. If you are currently a member of another Lutheran church, simply request a “transfer” of your membership to Saving Grace. Either you can contact them or our office can do it for you.
2. If you have been catechized (instructed) in basic Christian teachings and publicly professed your faith (been confirmed) at another Christian church, we simply ask you to “reaffirm” that faith, and establish your membership at this church.
3. If you have never been baptized, instructed and/or confirmed, you can be instructed in basic Christian teachings, be baptized and confirmed and received into membership at Saving Grace.
All our members are asked to a.) acknowledge our constitution and bylaws, b.) sign and abide by a membership covenant, and c.) attend our Orientation class. This class serves as an introduction to our congregation’s mission, vision and values as well as a brief overview of our fundamental teachings. For those seeking membership who require a more in-depth study (or review) of Christian doctrine, a course called “Foundations of the Faith” is offered. It serves as a necessary preparation for confirmation, but is also good for those wanting to review or learn about what we believe and teach at Saving Grace. These classes are offered regularly about 3 times per year. Please consult the church calendar for various course dates and times.
